From 29 June to 02 July, Loulé is once more hosting, the most important event related to music in the Algarve region and one of the biggest world music festivals in Europe, but including other cultural manifestations in its programme such as plastic arts, crafts food, films, poetry, conferences, theatre or street entertainment. In this 14th edition of the Festival MED, the organization intends to mantain the high levels on the diversity of nationalities and sonorities, on the acknowledged names but also the new artists, in the national as well as the international scene. Among the international artists which will perform this year in Loulé we can highlight the Balkan rythms of the prestigious Fanfare Ciocarlia, from Romania, which celebrates 20 years of carrer or the unmistakable husky voice of the French-Algerian Rachid Taha, who will sing the traditional Algerian music. The Fado singer Ana Moura and the multi-aeard-winning musician Rodrigo Leão are two of the national presences in the "Medium-Sized Festival" of the Iberian Peninsula, a distinction awarded at the second edition of the Iberian Festival Awards.
